Jess Campbell – the UK’s fastest female Ice Miler

Subject to ratification by the IISA board, Jess Campbell came and took the SYS team at Hatfield by storm last Saturday as she cruised her Ice Mile in 26minutes and 8 seconds.  Here, in her own words she describes her experience at Hatfield…

“On 21 January 2017, I completed my second Ice Mile under International Swimming Association (IISA) rules – the most enjoyable open water swim I have ever done. The water temp was 4.73ºC, the air 4.1ºC and the course distance 1650 metres (1.02 miles), which was two loops of Hatfield Marina, Doncaster. Beautiful pan flat, fresh water lake surrounded by trees, ducks and swans. Fantastic support from Leon Fryer Alistair Beattie and Ray Smith at Swimyourswim and the recovery team – Beth and Jen – who helped me re-heat super quickly. Total time 26 minutes and 8 seconds – a new quickest IISA (subject to ratification) Ice Mile by a British woman”
